5.0 Package Alterations

Benefits in a Package may be altered:

  1. Automatically
  2. University Sponsored Superannuation
    Contributions to the Unisuper Defined Benefit Plan (DBP) or the Investment Choice Plan (ICP) are automatically updated when an employee's salary changes.

    Contributions to the Government Employees Superannuation Board - Lump Sum Scheme and the Pension Scheme will be updated when advised by the Board

    The above contribution changes will result in an automatic change to the pre-tax superannuation contribution and an increase in the employee's Salary Sacrifice component.

    Changes to the pre-tax contribution will result in a corresponding change to an employee's Salary Sacrifice. This will occur automatically upon notification by an authorised University employee.

    Union Fees
    An Employee's subscription will automatically be altered for the following reasons:

    1. Changes to an employee's salary
    2. Changes to membership subscriptions

    Changes of this type will result in a corresponding change to an employee's Salary Sacrifice.

  3. If a Motor Vehicle is packaged
  4. The Motor Vehicle Benefit may only be altered for the following reasons:

    1. Expiry of the Motor Vehicle lease
    2. Modification to the Motor Vehicle lease.

    Any changes may result in a corresponding change to an employee's Salary Sacrifice.

    In addition, employees must seek advice from a Salary Packaging Consultant with regard to this Benefit.

  5. On request by employees
  6. All other Benefits in a Package are of an ongoing nature. However, employees may request an alteration to their package to:

    1. Increase a Benefit amount
    2. Decrease a Benefit amount
    3. Add a new Benefit
    4. Cease a Benefit

    Alterations of types (a) - (d) will result in a corresponding change to an employee's Salary Sacrifice

  7. By the University
  8. The University may alter Benefits to ensure the Total Employment Cost for an employee does not increase as a result of any legislative and/or administrative changes.

    AN AMENDED SCHEDULE OR SCHEDULES SIGNED BY THE EMPLOYEE AND THE UNIVERSITY IS REQUIRED BEFORE ARRANGEMENTS ARE ALTERED.

    Employees must seek advice from a Salary Packaging Consultant for alterations to any of the following Benefits:

    • Child Care (if adding additional days or another child attends the Centre)
    • FBT Liability
    • Motor Vehicle Associate Lease
    • Motor Vehicle Novated Lease
    • Motor Vehicle Operating Lease
    • Fuel Card budget
    • Laptop Computer
    • Recipient Contributions
    • Superannuation - University Sponsored Top-up Schemes
    • Superannuation - Private

    For alterations to any other Benefits, it is at the employee's discretion to seek advice from a Salary Packaging Consultant.
